Can't cancel placement when Left Clicking

Basically, when I am building for example, a line, if I wan't to cancel it, I just needed to left click, then the line would disappear and I was able to put another.

Now, when I left click to cancel, it doesn't work, and the actual line persists until I change the mode to single block then to line again.
