Illuminated Cloud2 - Indexing issue

Issue #1025 resolved
Pravinkumar Janarthanan created an issue

Hi Scott,

We are new to illuminated cloud. We initially tried the a trail version of illuminated cloud 1 for 30 days, we never had any issue during the trail period, so we were interested in the features and purchased the licence however, its for illuminated cloud 2.

Now every time the IDE gets hung saying indexing and it never works after that. We need to kill the IDE using the task manager. We tried all the basic troubleshooting steps mentioned in FAQ on your website, which never got us back on track.

We couldn't use the plugin even after purchased it a month ago. Is there anyway we can swap the license for illuminated cloud 1 which works pretty fine without any issue. Or you guys can help us out to get this problem resolved.

We are using the IntelliJ IDEA ultimate version as IDE. Please help to solve this issue.

Thanks Pravin

Hi, Pravin. There's no good reason that should happen. Can you rebuild all caches and indices using File>Invalidate caches / restart and, if that doesn't resolve the issue, either attach or email the resulting idea.log file so that I can see what is going on?

Pravin, thanks for providing the log. I can see a recurring StackOverflowException in the log that's the root cause of the issue, but I can't see details on which class is causing the problem. I've instrumented the product with a bit of additional debug logging as well as better handling of that situation.

I'm attaching a custom build of IC2 that's essentially the current official build with these changes. Would you mind installing it using Settings>Plugins>Install plugin from disk, rebuilding your caches/indices again, and sending me the resulting logs? I'm hoping that a) it provides a workaround for this issue, though you might have some slight gaps in your caches/indices for the symbols that are causing this issue; b) more importantly, the logs show the exact declaration(s) that are causing the issue so that I can work with you to reproduce and properly fix it.

Thanks in advance for the patience and additional diagnostic info!

Scott, thanks for responding and looking into this issue. I followed all the steps with the customized plugin. Sent the log to your support email address.

1, First i uninstalled the older(IC2) plugin 2, Installed you customized (IC2) plugin using the zip file you sent. 3, Deleted all old local projects 4, Created project again 5, Rebuild caches/indices 6, Closed the project and re-opened back 7, Now its hung. 8, Sent the log files.

Thanks. The log definitely helps, but I'll need a bit more info to reproduce and resolve the issue for you. I emailed you details on what would be helpful. Thanks again!

This issue was resolved by an updated build. There's another issue that was reported by the user directly that I'll investigate separately.
