reporter Thanks for the additional feedback, Christoph. For what it's worth, you can do this today using the settings for Java and HTML respectively. There just aren't dedicated settings for Apex and Visualforce. Here's a screenshot showing Apex and VF using IntelliJ's Darcula theme:
And of course you're free to create your own themes for those two languages to match your preferences.

Second this as well. Changes to the Java colour scheme doesn't affect my Apex code. Only changes to the Language Defaults have any effect and even then, they are limited.
-
Yes I can confirm that changes to the Java color scheme doesn't effect Apex code, only language defaults has an effect. +1

reporter In this forum thread:
it has been requested that an additional configuration be added for distinct styling of type names in addition to all identifier names in the Java config.
-
reporter There's also been a request to allow different styling for identifiers from the OST vs. identifiers in local source.

how is the status of this issue?
-
reporter I actually have a changelist with a partial implementation shelved right now. I need to knock out a few other things first and then will unshelve and complete that work.

Hopefully this will give the level of flexibility that folks have been wanting.

Nice! Can't wait. Now who will be the first to build a theme that matches SublimeText + Mavensmate?

I'd like to second this. Regarding readability of code, i personally find Sublime Text + Mavensmate a lot more convenient and differentiating. I'd really like to see similar behaviour in illuminatedcloud (in fact, this is one major reason i heard from a few developers in my team why they hesitate to switch to illuminatedcloud). Anyways, keep up the good work.
