Projects stored in Documents folder not working properly after Mac OS upgrade to Catalina

I've had a couple of users reports this and wanted to get an issue posted to help others find the solution more quickly.

If you store your IDE projects in the Documents folder on Mac OS X and upgrade to Catalina, you may find that the projects no longer work properly. This is because the Catalina upgrade changes some of the directory structures and the IDE project is pointing at a stale filesystem location.

Evidently JetBrains is addressing this and a resolution is available in the EAP builds now and will be in the official builds soon.
