Perpetually 'Instantiating Tests' when trying to run tests in DX project

I would upload the log files but I can’t navigate to them from the file explorer that opens when i click the ‘select files’ button below.

This project is a dx project, and I have a multi source folder structure.
This is the first time I’ve had this issue.

How to reproduce:

Matthew, almost all of my SFDX/source format projects have multiple package directories / source roots and I haven’t had any issues running tests. I imagine there’s something else going on here. A debug log would certainly be useful. Are you not able to find it using Help>Show Log in Explorer/Finder/Files?

I was able to find the log that way
but when I went to upload it, some directories in the path to the log files were not visible in the file explorer.

either way, the behavior has stopped, i don’t have anyway to account for it
it persisted even through updating Intellij, sfdx cli and checking if IC had an update.

then it just suddenly started working again.

Okay. Far from ideal (things not working then suddenly working), so if it happens again, reopen and let’s troubleshoot. It sounds like there was some weird behavior going on here across the board.
