Connection verification behavior is wonky in 2024.3

Issue #2678 resolved
Michael Johnson created an issue

I have had multiple users running into the same issue when creating a connection with IntelliJ Illuminated Cloud on macOS. When clicking “Test” to verify the connection, there is no popup that shows if the connection is successul or if there is a problem authenticating. The logs in Salesforce show a successful login for every time the “Test” button is clicked using the credentials. Because of this, whenever trying to save the connection, users are prompted with “The connection credentials must be successfully verified”. I have had no issues in setting up connections running IntelliJ Iluminated Cloud on Windows 11, so presume it is a macOS issue.

I also ran into this locally today. I'm not sure exactly what changed or when, but I'm trying to address it for the build that will (likely) be coming out Monday. Thanks for reporting and sorry for the (clunky) inconvenience.

Fix committed for the next build. It appears to be happening suddenly due to a change in the way the IDE handles modality states in 2024.3. Can you check whether or not the user(s) experiencing this issue have already updated to 2024.3 which was released earlier this week?

That was exactly it, had the users download 2024.1 and were able to connect just find - thanks!

Thanks for confirming. It should be safe to update to 2024.3 (with regard to this specific behavior) once the new build goes out, again likely Monday morning.
