Autocompletion of custom fields on packaged objects prepend package namespace

When autocompleting a custom field that was created on a packaged object, the namespace of the managed package is prepended to the field. See the gif below.
As you can see from the image below, Deal__c is a custom field on the managed package object that shouldn't have NU__ prepended to it.

Matt, is this the same problem as
#123? It seems like it is, but I wanted to check before resolving it as a duplicate. -
