No feedback when saving while a deployment is in progress

When for example in a sandbox (Full Copy) a deployment is in progress (by someone else or other process), when you save the pages / apex (and maybe the rest of the components)

There is no visual feedback nor Event Log generated that says that it fails / tries / succeeds

Thanks for the report, Sergio. Let me reproduce this and I'll see what kind of response is coming back from the deployment request and why it isn't presented to the user.

Reproduced and fix submitted for inclusion in next release. It's worth pointing out that the error message that I do get back when trying to deploy via the Tooling API is pretty cryptic, though:

Error:(1, 1) An unexpected error has occurred. 1991077152-83778 (1924580756)

However, the error message that I get back when trying to deploy via the Metadata API is more clear:

Deployment failed (ALREADY_IN_PROCESS) - null: The changes you requested require salesforce.com to temporarily lock your organization's administration setup. However, the administration setup has already been locked by another change. Please wait for the previous action to finish, then try again later.

At the very least you will get the reported error message now.
