Retrieve and Merge considers all local metadata as not on server

I'm using intellij 2016.3.4 on Windows. When I used Illuminated Cloud yesterday to retrieve and merge, the list of items in the merge dialog was correct. I shut down intellij overnight. After starting it up this morning, and performing a retrieve and merge for metadata I had selected previously, Illuminated Cloud considers all of the metadata I have local as not residing on the server for some reason. Restarting intellij has not resolved the issue.

I went into Project Structure and refreshed the metadata list. Now when I do a retrieve and merge, the dialog shows a more meaningful list. Do I need to refresh the metadata list all the time now?

Michael, you shouldn't need to refresh it very often...only when you know that there's new metadata in the org since the last time you refreshed. And after you make any changes to your metadata subscription, the deploy/retrieve dialog should automatically detect that and update itself as well. If you are finding this not to be the case, please let me know some reproducible steps and I'll take care of it.

Michael, I'm resolving this for now since it seems it was more a misunderstanding of when refreshes are required. If there's still an actual issue beneath this please feel free to reopen with details.
