can't activate plugin with proxy on

On the company network proxy settings is enforced. This is correctly set up in IntelliJ and the plugin communicates correctly with SFDC. But when I bought the license and tried to activate it, it failed to connect to the server. The plugin couldn't be activated unless you connect to a proxy-free network. Then it works perfectly.
