Rename Control Chart Gadget to match purpose

Greetings! Please consider renaming the Control Chart Gadget to Status Control Chart Gadget. That gadget can only generate a control chart for the status field. Thank you.

In chart’s settings you can set the title as you want. Default title is Control Chart Gadget but you can change it to Status Control Chart Gadget to display it on a board.

Isn’t this enough?

I understand that I can rename the instance of a gadget on a dashboard. I was instead suggesting that the type of chart is more specific as it only applies to the status field. Thus changing the name in the available gadgets selection list would make that more clear: Status Control Chart Gadget.

The reason we named this chart “Control Chart“ was for keeping the consistency with Jira and not confusing the users. Jira has a report named “Control Chart”, which displays a similar chart that is based on cycle time. See https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/view-and-understand-the-control-chart/

In addition the name that you proposed is not actually suitable. The chart is actually based on cycle time / lead time / time between statuses depending on the configuration. So naming this “Status Control Chart“ would not very accurate.

But we give the option to the users to rename the chart (by setting a custom Title in the gadget settings) before being displayed. You could make use of this to rename it as you want.

If we receive similar suggestions or multiple votes to this issue we might reconsider it, but for now this is a “Won’t do“.

Thanks for your ideas, and for deciding a disposition of the issue. In hindsight, I could have suggested a rename to “Scatter Chart”.

Of note, many marketplace vendors have better ideas to improve JIRA than Atlassian staff often do. Just because Atlassian names/does something incorrectly that doesn’t mean it is fixed in place. Please consider looking over some of your competitor’s products in the marketplace and defined description of agile measures to see examples. When a customer wants a specific thing, they search the marketplace for that specific thing and not necessarily for whatever Atlassian staff decided to name/implement.
