export as vector graphic

it would be REALLY good to have a proper figure export feature.

It would be best to use a vector based format for quality (and it can easily converted to jpg/png etc later in gimp or photoshop). PDF, EPS or PS would be well suited for the task.

The export dialog should probably also comprise a output size option to be able to set the size independently of the current window's size.

I assume given that we have vector information on everything that we put into the main drawing area, implementing this should probably be feasible.

    Hi Klaus,

Last time I need really high-res images, I just printed the CLANS views as postscript to a file (nice vector graphic format, but very slow!). Those can then be opened in gimp (I think I even managed in inkscape once). Would that not resolve the problem?

I know of this option. Unfortunately, it is dependent on the size of the CLANS window as well as on the set paper-size. I still have to figure out how to get a non-distorted image. If I export like this, I get an eps that upon import with gimp looks totally weird (the points are not points any more but ovals).

Plus, I don't think that this option exists on Windows, does it?

hmmm, you are right; maybe the next best thing would be to export it as SVG? that should be fairly easy to achieve...?
