B9 styled RPM external camera, Integrated cameras in cockpits

Issue #57 new

The RPM monitors in the cockpits can show external camera images, but we don't include any cameras in B9, the "stock" RPM cameras are very un-aerodynamic, they're clearly designed to either operate in the vacuum of space, or at low speeds/stationary in atmosphere

I made my own quick version that's the atmospheric science package with the right transform added where the camera goes, it has a lens and everything, but then it looks identical to another part, which is a no-no.

Any suggestions for how it could be made distinct enough?

I also suggest we integrate some cameras into the cockpits similar to how ALCOR does it: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/54925-WIP-ALCOR-Advanced-Landing-Capsule-for-Orbital-Rendezvous-by-ASET-%28UPD-10-01-2014%29

Straight forwards and angled a bit down are 2 useful camera angles, first for flying, second for landing.

All you need from a technical standpoint is transforms pointed where the camera would be, from an aesthetic perspective some protrusion or a allusion to a hole with a clear cover that's flush with the fuselage, they can be tiny like the alcor ones, alcor's external cameras you only spot if you look really closely.

Also having known external cameras adds some interesting possibilities with RPM like this:

Can project the external cameras bellow RPM information, it also helps with the Mk2 and S2's poor forward visibility.

    I'm all for integrated cameras.

Not sure about camera models, but real stuff tends to be tiny - just a small hemisphere with a shielded lens, as the only real limitation is the size of the CCD.

Science package is several orders of magnitude larger than it needs to be - even the most hardened stuff is only a couple times large then your average webcam.

Yeah I resized it heavily, but still that's a resized science package, need to come up with it's own model.
