Currently have large hammer and shield equipped

My understanding is that large hammers are supposed to be two-handed only? Am I misunderstanding that?

If not, then I’ve attached the save file. I have an artifact tower shield and a large hammer equipped. I mean i’m not complaining lol but it does seem to violate the logic of the game.
