MAC: Receive error 'ADOM, it unexpectedly quit' when run

Issue #645 resolved
Former user created an issue

Receiving the message 'The last time you opened Ultimate ADOM, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows. Do you want to try to reopen its windows again?' each time I start the game.

The message pops up every time the game tries to launch. Then the message is displayed I can see the 'UA' icon in the lower taskbar. As soon as I select the 'Reopen' option the screen briefly flashes black and the UA icon disappears and the game does not launch.

My Mac is an older Mac but still plays the games I like well. Her specs are:

Model Name: iMac Model Identifier: iMac12,2 Processor Name: Intel Core i7 Processor Speed: 3.4 GHz Number of Processors: 1 Total Number of Cores: 4 L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB L3 Cache: 8 MB Memory: 16 GB Boot ROM Version: 87.0.0.0.0 SMC Version (system): 1.72f2 OS: High Sierra 10.13.6 (Stuck here due to age)

The steam library is installed on a USB HDD.

Actions taken:

Restarted mac, tried again - same issue Uninstalled and reinstalled, tried again - same issue Launched directly from the folder - same issue

Could you please open the “console.app” and check for a crash report of the game?

Unity still supports macOS 10.13+ but we don’t have a Mac equipped with that macOS version so we can’t verify that ourselves.

    Hi Jochen,

Thanks for the follow-up. Looks like there are logs for each time the game attempts to start. I have attached a .zip with the last few.

Please let me know if you need any further information.

Thanks. It looks like Unity is just crashing but there are no indicators why. I can forward this to the Unity support.

Does your iMac support “Metal”? Unity says it supports only “Metal-capable Intel and AMD GPUs”.

So it could be that your gfx board is not compatible.

Ok, I’m closing this one. Sorry, but I guess there is not much we can do about it. Glad you can enjoy it on your other systems!

Unity crashing instead of showing an error message is probably worth reporting.
