adblock-c ------------------------------------ Simple and effective adblocker in C. It will block ads (effectively hosts) using the /etc/hosts file. Using already excisting tools such as cat and wget etc.. Will fetch hosts from known providers or use a specified file with providers. Examples of usage; ./adblockc --providers-file provider.urls Will use ad-block providers from a specified file. ./adblockc Will use default ad-block provider. ./adblockc --revert Revert back to using your original /etc/hosts file. Example of providers file data format; [providers] 1=http://hosts-file.net/ad_servers.asp 2=http://pgl.yoyo.org/as/serverlist.php?hostformat=hosts;showintro=0 For keeping your hosts updated you could add adblockc to your crontab and set it to update reguraly... like every day or week.
