Search's zoom-out to show all selections should be improved

I don't recall if this was intentional or not, but the zoom-out used to only zoom out as far as was necessary to show the highlighted results. Now, it fully zooms out, but only in the necessary dimension. Also, clearing out the search field and hitting return imposes a zoom-out.

I think that either zooming out only the necessary amount or fully zooming out in both dimensions would be better/more intuitive. Also, clearing out the search field and hitting return should only zoom out if there is some search result from the other field.
