Idea for better implementation of vl-qwik-picks

Had never really used this because I hardly use the GUI in VL7 final, but I was playing with this today, and I couldn't help but notice this thing is all over the menu. Accessories has one, Internet has one, just about every menu category has one of these. Feels rather annoying to me to be honest. I think a better implementation of this would be something similar to the "software center" or the "tweak ubuntu" application.

Make it one central application where the user can click on a category and display the available apps that live inside that category. Just an idea with slight twist of rant. Dont get me wrong. I think the idea behind the thing has a future, but I think the implementation could be better. That's all

I can do that, but like anything else, some felt differently. I had put up a version centralized it to it's own menu category and was asked that it be changed back. I can do it either way, just need to see how the majority feels.

I just think the current implementation is somewhat confusing. You have the same icon, all over the menu. You have to maintain several .desktop files for the very same application, but you have to place it all over the menu. From a developing standpoint, this doesn't make sense. From an end-user standpoint, I can tell you the it's creating clutter in the menu. The xfce4 menu itself is by nature a traditional xdg menu and not eas easy to navigate as say the mint menu. Added more clutter is definitely not the way to go here.
