plymouthd keeps running when booting TUI

Issue #50 new
roarde created an issue

This applies when the system was installed to use bootsplash, but bootsplash is bypassed by selecting 'TUI' from the boot menu. When booted to TUI, splash screen continues to show on tty1, login will be impossible there, and changing virtual tty may be very difficult.

Packages, especially mkinitrd, have already been changed to fix this. The booted initrd needs to be regenerated for the fixes to be applied to existing STD installations. Lilo users would then need to re-run lilo.

For a while, --upgrade caused plymouthd to continue running when booted GUI; splash stayed visible on tty1. This was fixed by having the vlinit upgrade reinstall vlconfig2 (to get its rc.X) in doinst. Systems that used --upgrade prior to this will have this part of the issue fixed by the next --upgrade, regardless of whether the initrd is rebuilt. Getting the rest of the issue fixed still depends on initrd rebuild.

Posted this issue to provide info. Didn't want to automate all of that for existing installs, due to risk. ISO's generated from now on won't have this issue.
