    Those of you having this issue, please try this temporary work-around.

    First, make sure you comment out or remove all lines of your /etc/slapt-get/slapt-getrc that reference veclinux-7.1 or VL64-7.1 You should only have ONE SOURCE line in your slapt-getrc and it should be one of these

    SOURCE=http://vlcore.vectorlinux.com/pkg/untested/veclinux-7.2/x86

    or, for 64-bit users

    SOURCE=http://vlcore.vectorlinux.com/pkg/untested/veclinux-7.2/x86_64

    After making that change, run this script in a terminal

    #!/bin/bash

    IFS="," read -a metalist <<< "$(slapt-get --show x11-meta | grep Required | cut -f 2 -d :)"

    slapt-get --clean
    slapt-get --autoclean
    slapt-get -u

    for p in "${metalist[@]}"; do
        slapt-get -y -i --reinstall $p
    done

    removepkg glamor-egl

    I had the x11 submodule rebuilt, that script will force re-installation of every component related to the x11 meta package. Also, let us know the output of lspci | grep -i vga

  2. retired1af reporter

    Ran the script. Still getting a segmentation fault error on attempting to start x.

    lspci output is: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)

  3. Moises Henriquez

    On machines with intel video chips, it was found that the culprit for this issue was the intel video driver. This was resolved on the x11 submodule on this commit https://bitbucket.org/vlcore-team/x11/commits/851a4bf88d6866050480047ce3acf9ab2d0dd8fe

    A new build of the x11 submodule has been requested. http://vlcore.vectorlinux.com:8010/builders/x11/builds/67

    The new packages will be included in the next ISO build, until then, users having this problem should run the script above following the provided instructions.

    This bug report will remain open in case any other users continue to experience it.

  4. retired1af reporter

    And it's the video driver again.

    I cloned x11 and when attempting to rebuild the driver, found that dri3proto and presentproto were still missing. Installed that, rebuilt xf86-video-intel and upgraded the package. X starts up just fine after that.

  5. Moises Henriquez

    Can you try just installing presentproto and dri3proto but not building the driver and see if that is enough to launch x?

  6. Former user Account Deleted

    just installing presentproto and dri3proto but not building the driver did not work for me. after installing them and rebuilding xf86-driver-intel as retired1af did worked like a champ. i now have a working X

  7. Moises Henriquez

    This has been resolved. It looks like it affected intel video chips that didn't like the default acceleration method of the newer intel drivers.

    The fix was pushed to vlcore-team/x11 on commit bcad67e.

    ISO Build A0.1.1 shipped this fix. Build log for the ISO is at http://vlcore.vectorlinux.com:8010/builders/VL-ISO-STD/builds/118
