Main Menu Shifted to Lower Right Corner of Screen on Launch

Issue #185 new

In Game Name: Torval

Now, I understand my setup is non-standard, and therefore you can't guarantee support, but I would at least like to pick some brains on this one, (metaphorically speaking, for now. Perhaps literally later, if we get this sorted.)

First the stats:

Xubuntu 14.04 Wine 1.7.18 6gb RAM, Nvidia GTX 760

Launcher works fine, (although very resource intensive.) It does fail to "update" it's graphics occasionally and make the "Play" button light up, but restarting it usually solves that.

Hard to describe but easy to see for yourself; check out the attached picture. The game window opens, and it loads the menu screen. However, the "background image" of the menu screen is moved down into the lower right-hand quadrant of my monitor. All buttons and settings are still in their correct places, but the visuals themselves are down in the right side. So, i.e., I can click "Options" by hovering over the right section of black space along the top of the screen, but the picture and animation is in the lower right. AND, I can only see the upper-left portion of the image, (because it has been shifted, but not resized,) so I can't successfully navigate many menus.

Otherwise, the background music plays, and I can click through menus with a little luck in guessing where buttons should be, but I can't actually try to connect to a server or anything. I have adjusted resolution and toggled Full Screen/Windowed, (luckily those are two of the very few options located in the upper left of the view area, so I can mess with them,) but that appears to have no change.

Picture attached; you can see that in the picture I have the "VSync" toggle drop-down opened. The location of the mouse cursor in the picture is where I had to click to get that to open. So the buttons themselves are in the correct locations, it's just the "visuals" are all shifted down and right.

Have you tried launching the game in a different resolution or windowed mode?

Right after hitting "Play" in launcher hold "alt" and a window will open allowing you to choose resolution and settings.

Thank you for the detailed report, I'm sure we can get this fixed for you :)

Holding "Alt" doesn't seem to do anything. That's not necessarily your fault, however, it could be a difference in how Linux handles hotkeys.

However, the resolution and the fullscreen/windowed settings are actually one of the VERY few things that I CAN see when I launch it. I set it from Windowed to Full screen, closed it and ran it again. It did start in Full Screen, but the issue still existed. I then tried another resolution, still in full screen. Restarted it, same problem. Back to Windowed mode in the second resolution, same issue.

So, it seems that launching it in Full Screen or Windowed, neither works, regardless of resolution. As a side note, the "Made in Unity" banner that pops up before the game menu DOES load properly, in the center of the screen.

The error that seems to precede the issue in the terminal appears to be: "err:d3d_surface:surface_load_location Don't know how to handle location 0x100."

Given that this is a Wine error and not a Unity or Windows error, I don't expect it will be much help, and it could be a red herring, but I have also included a pastebin of the full terminal output that is received from directly launching the "STNStressTest.exe," (not the launcher.)

If you still have the launcher could you try 2 things for me. 1) try with just one monitor 2) hold alt right after clicking the "Play" button and not when the launcher itself is starting. Let me know what happens because I'd like to get to the bottom of this issue :)
