Screen freezes shortly after joining server

When joining a server the game works for about a second. After my screen freezes, but the game is still playing! I can hear myself walking around and jumping.

Could you specify system specs please. And has this issue been able to be reproduced?

System Specs: Windows 8.1 64-bit Intel i5-4670k Nvidia GTX 660Ti (driver version 353.62) 16GB DDR3 @1600Mhz 120GB Adata SSD (OS and Game files) Asrock B85M Pro4 Motherboard

Today I tried logging in again and managed to walk around for a bit longer, maybe 20 seconds. After joinging once again it froze after a couple of seconds again. The second time I lowered my settings from ultra to high. For the split second I can walk the fps is fine, so it doesn't seem to be a performance issue.
