Cleaning up the config

Issue #137 wontfix
André Miede repo owner created an issue

Speaking of which, as a devil's advocate, I'd like you to consider removing all the commented code blocks that are mere reminders of how things should, in this or that case, be done, and adding the link to the wiki where these solutions will be listed:

% solutions on how to use the template with % tikz, spanish language, other font combinations, ... ... ... % can be found at https://bitbucket.org/amiede/classicthesis/wiki/

I had some time and I like the template, so I started trying to clean this up a bit.

My attempt at an informative wiki page is at: https://bitbucket.org/dmhowcroft/classicthesis/wiki/CustomConfig

My edited config is at: https://bitbucket.org/dmhowcroft/classicthesis/src/363c2b35901676752ee66b8c420dd9ab86dd1694/classicthesis-config.tex

But (1) I just realized I was editing a copy of master rather than develop and (2) I shouldn't do too much yet in case, e.g., I'm doing it wrong.

Let me know what you think :)

I really like your Wiki-idea and first results for explaining the configuration! Could I move that over here afterwards, please?

Removing stuff from the config is a bit tricky (side effects, future development etc.) and I would like to postpone that a bit.

Sure thing! I'll just work on adding things to the wiki, then, and submit PRs for that and leave the config-wrangling to you guys :)

Well, I have been continuing to work on my thesis using the template, so I could follow up on wiki-fying helpful information, if you'd like.

I have a paper deadline coming up at the end of next week, but in theory I should be able to follow up on this then.

Thanks for the quick reply. We changed a couple of things in the config and probably are not finished, yet. It might be better if we sync before you continue your (highly appreciated) work. (So you won't wikify anything that is already gone.)

Good luck for the paper submission!

Hi André, I think it would be nice to add things to the wiki to explain the config, but it’s been long enough since I looked at the project, that I expect I would basically need to start over. Given my current time constraints, I don’t think I would be able to contribute. I don’t know if that means you would like to close the issue for now until someone else says they see the need for it or if it should be left open and marked as “waiting for a contributor” or a “good first issue” for someone wanting to help give back to the project.

Thanks for your quick reply! I can totally understand your position and would close the issue for now (maybe re-open if the need and some help arises again in the future).

All the best to you and thanks for being an active user!
