I'd like to try this for the 4.2 release. There will be one package for bibtex, and another, for testing purposes, with biblatex/biber combination.

I have included Joern's changes to switch to biblatex (made some other changes of my own, though).

In order to have a similar look and feel as before, I changed the style to "style=numeric-comp" ([1] etc.) and set the backend to bibtex, which probably works best for most basic users: "backend=bibtex8,bibencoding=ascii"

Let's see how this is going to work with the users!

@Ivo: Do you need anything in classicthesis' files to make the two versions for LyX happen?
