classicthesis is incompatible with ams documentclasses

MNWE
\documentclass{amsbook}
\usepackage{classicthesis}
\begin{document}
\chapter{test}
\end{document}

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Compile the MNWE
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Chapter 1

<inserted text> 
}

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

    AMS documentclasses "produce the overall layout and appearance of AMS publications".
    So if that layout and appearance is not liked or another one is required, the classes
    should not be used from my point of view. Thus, it is not bad that classicthesis and
    ams classes are incompatible.
    
    Please use a standard class or a KOMA one in combination with classicthesis in order
    to achieve a suitable result.
