Redirects are not working properly

Issue #26 resolved
darklow created an issue

I am using recent version of Poste (Free). And by some reason Email redirects are not working with Gmail anymore and some weird things are happening. Was something changed in recent versions? Because it was working perfectly before end of October.

The behaviour is really weird.

Example: Virtual domain: lif.lv Email: valde@lif.lv is redirect to: kaspars@adventure.lv and darklow@gmail.com If i send email to valde@lif.lv from kaspars@adventure.lv (also on same poste server), then both accounts get emails. If i send email to valde@lif.lv from darklow@gmail.com (gmail smtp), then gmail doesn’t get anything.

I checked and my server is not in the spam list. And I am sure this is not blacklist problem, because it works perfectly fine with regular emails.

And now comes even weirder part. If i add 3x more gmail emails to same valde@lif.lv alias. Then from whatever email i try to send, non of the recipients got an email, even the kaspars@adventure.lv that was receiving before.

So to me it looks like something is wrong with an alias handling. Any changes introduced to aliases in November?

Looks like none of my other redirects are not working anymore. Hope you can help me with this issue.

Thank you,

Hi, any feedback on this? This is a serious and major issue for us. Redirects/Aliases are one of the most basic things and we are missing emails :/ Thank you

Maybe someone could test their setup and create new redirect where one of the recipient emails is gmail and see if it receives email if email is sent from the exact gmail account as gmail recipient? Thank you.

I just discovered, whenever message is sent to this redirect email, i can see that this number is increasing in dashboard:

    721x 250 Queued

Since i have free version I cannot see any delivery stats. Is it somehow possible to see why these emails are getting queued?

Can this be related to not delivering redirect emails?

AFAIK there was not any change in delivery with redirects. "Queued" means "OK" from remote mailserver - but these mails can be blocked afterwards beacause of SPAM rating/invalid DKIM/invalid SPF. I will be definitely testing this but not now. You can search through data/log directory to find details about delivery

Thank you. By the way I discovered where is the problem and apparently there are two of them:

    1) Gmail is not forwarding if recipient = same as sender: http://superuser.com/a/405656 I'm ok if this is not solvable.

    2) The number of redirect emails are limited to 4x by default dovecot/conf.d/20-managesieve.conf file. I believe this could be fixed.

I sent you a little more detailed report in you email as it had too many emails I didn't wanted to expose from log file (info at poste)

    Thanks

ad 2. i think i will rather stick with defaults for now BUT you dont have to: - you can create your own derived container with custom conf file - or use last version and add custom (your data path)/_override/etc/dovecot/conf.d/20-managesieve.conf file to your data directory
