Inaccurate error "Failed to delete pages(s)" displayed while delete process continues

I am on Confluence 7.4.5. I was using the this Delete Child Pages plugin to delete a page with just over 2000 child pages. After a while, the plugin showed an error, "Failed to delete page(s)." It allowed me to run the delete again. I could refresh the page and see that child page count reduced and run the delete process again.

After some trial and testing I found that even the error showed up after 60 seconds, the delete process continued, and if I triggered the delete process more than once, memory usage went high and performance slowed down.

Main bug appears to be that the UI shows the failure when it should show it is still processing. Also the delete dialog after the false failure notification is not blocking, which with the confusion can lead to multiple delete processes being triggered and performance degradation.
