Enemy and friendly Stalkers are stuck shooting at dead animals/people

Problem:

A Stalker will spot and kill something (even if they’re targeting me) and they will continue to shoot at it even though it is already dead. If I save right next to the problem and reload, this will stop the Stalker getting stuck “shooting”.

I have witnessed this issue across two installations, on two different systems, but I do not know the exact conditions that cause it. I have noticed it happening very frequently, though.

You can also hear it happening in the distance by listening for the sound of a gun totally emptying its round, and then repeating over and over and over.
