companion disappearing in great swamp

I am using a clear sky member as a companion; I have had him for a while and have loaded a few levels with him. Currently, he is carrying a few armor sets in his inventory. I have just come from the cordon and was on my way to the clear sky base to tun in quests. the companion is disappearing from my side and from the pda menu at when i get close to the watch tower; in-between the church and the clear sky base.
