Can someone please make NPCs stop using shotguns as sniper rifles and rifles as anal probes???

It is incredibly bad programming when shotguns are used for distance and NPCs sneak 1 meter away from a target using rifles. Making the situation worse is watching NPCs swap pistols and rifles 8 times ith out shooting at a target 1 meter away....then they die because they did not use one or the other. Unless NPC loses primary weapon. They should not swap at short range.
