Sharin not working

Issue #114 closed
Former user created an issue

Version: 3.2.13

We updated to this version with Jira v6.4.10. Admins can edit the tasks... but if we change our > 100 tasks with bulk (Project Admin, show all, select all -> chooce the local AND active directory groups) the get these permission but the users cant edit them. If changing a single task the same work that works!

    Hi,

I analyzed your problem, and If I understand correctly you tried to use "Edit selected" option on multiple Scheduled Issues. When using this option you can't actually change creator of selected issues (or sharing preferences), only when you edit one Scheduled Issue at a time you can change its creator. Please keep in mind, that user listed as creator of Scheduled Issue can edit that Scheduled Issue. To check what creator users you Scheduled Issues have, please enable creator column first ("Columns" -> select "Created By").

    Best regards.

    Hi,

Is there anything else I can assist you with The Scheduler plugin? Did your original issue was connected with "creator" of Scheduled Issue?

    Best regards.

No, the problem was not about the "owner" of the ticket. With the new share permissions only this person is allowed to change the permissions. So we tried to give the permissions to an group (in this case an Active Directory group) Changing the permissions for one item works. If we select all (bulk mode) the new permissions are shown, but they dont work... thats the problem. As we have around 200 tasks, this is a bad work to do, if it would be needed to be done for each single task

    Hi Michel,

To be clear, we are talking here about group from "MS Active Directory" directory service, that you are sharing within your Scheduled Issues? If that's the case your issue could be related to syncing time between JIRA and your Active Directory service. Please refer to Synchronizing manual on Atlassian page: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira/synchronising-data-from-external-directories-229838555.html and try to manually synchronize your user/groups extrenal directory.

If this is not the case you are talking about, it would be very helpful if you could attach screenshots of process, step by step, that you are trying to achieve.

Also please keep in mind, that since The Scheduler 3.2.16 you have an option to select and share multiple Scheduled Issues at once.

    Best regards.

Hi, no the problem isnt the user (AD groups, local accounts etc.) at all.

The problem is, that you can change with bulk action all permissions for several or all tasks, but they dont get effective at the end.

If you go for a single scheduled tasks with an AD group account or other account that works..

But we cant change > 100 tasks by that way...

    Hi,

Sadly, I still not exactly sure if I understand you correctly. It would be very helpful if you could send me screenshots of step by step process when you are changing permission for one item, and when you are changing permissions with bulk mode.

    Best regards.

Do you have options like chat?

What exactly do you not understand?

Its very simple... We have 150 - 200 scheduled issues, you can seem them all in the project view.

After the update only the original creator is allowed to do changes. If i select alle schedules tasks and change to the required permissions (where it doesnt make a differen wheter local users, AD users!) this doesnt work. If I change a single scheduled issue the same way, it works.. BUT we cannot change 150 -200 scheduled issus manually. So your "bulk" mode (select all and do common change like setting the permissions) needs to work.

By "permissions" do you mean share permission that is located at Share option in Actions->More context menu? If yes, then this functionality work only for one issue - it doesn't matter if you select multiple checkboxes. Selecting Scheduled Issues with checkboxes only apply to Edit selected and Delete selected buttons that are located above the table with Scheduled Issues. Version 3.2.13 that you are currently using don't have an option to bulk edit share permission for more than one Scheduled Issue at a time.

But in latest 3.2.16 version we added Share selected functionality (near Edit selected button), that will bulk share all selected scheduled issues, so it should work with your case. Currently it's available to manual installation on our Bitbucket download page: https://bitbucket.org/apdc/the-scheduler/downloads but soon it will be available also to download via built-in JIRA UPM.

    I'm glad to hear that.

Also new version is officially released on Atlassian Marketplace, so from now you can upgrade directly from there.

    Best regards.
