How to create unassigned issues

Issue #139 resolved
Adolfo Casari created an issue

I migrated to Jira 7 and updated The Scheduler to version 421. In previous version the rules were creating the issues unassigned (as expected), but now they are assigned to the project leader, who is the default assignee in the project.

The rules set the assignee as Automatic and in the Assignee column this is show as N/A.

Please advise.

    Hello,

Thank you for pointing this out. There is a bug in The Scheduler that doesn't allow to create unassigned issues if the default assignee in the project is set (assignee is set always to the default one).

In your case - if you have set the Assignee field while creating Scheduled Issue to Unassigned, then behaviour on your instance was indeed caused by the bug. Otherwise (for example Assignee was set to Automatic or Assignee field was not present on the screen) setting the Assignee to default assignee was expected behaviour.

We will discuss in our team about this issue and i will inform you in the next few days about the progress.

    Best regards, Bartosz Gilewski

Just as a comment, when I tried to change the assignee to Unassigned and save the rule, it shows Automatic anyways. Meanwhile and as a workaround I have changed the default assignee in the project to unassigned. Thanks.

    Hello,

We have just released 4.3.1 version of The Scheduler plugin for JIRA. Since now, The Scheduler distinguishes "Unassigned" and "Automatic" options for the Assignee field (both in the Scheduled Issues table and while creating an issue). Now when you will set the Automatic Assignee as Project lead and create Scheduled Issue as Unassigned, it will create Unassigned issues as expected.

    Best Regards, Bartosz Gilewski
