Add to new Issues to the Current Active Sprint in Agile

Ability to Add to new Issues to the Current Active Sprint in Agile

Without this the tasks are created in the backlog and they are not noticed! (Especially daily recurring tasks.)

This could work by specifying a board (not the best solution as boards are dynamic), or make it really clever and identify which boards the Issue would belong to and automatically add the Issue to the correct sprint.

This should be an option on the issue so you can choose whether or not the issue would be included in the Active sprint automatically or not.

Hi, We will analyze this request and in case it will be possible to have it implemented we should be able to include it in upcoming releases...

We are planning to use the Scheduler plugin to create recurring JIRA tasks as a way of reminding our employees to carry out certain tasks on a regular basis.

As "Anonymous" already mentioned, without being able to automatically add the new task to the currently active sprint it just lands in the backlog. And, of course, if you create the scheduled task for yourself you don't get an e-mail notification when the new tasks are created. This means that you have to actively remember to add the task to the active sprint yourself which kind of defeats the purpose of automatically-created recurring tasks in my opinion.

    Hello Rachel,

could you please clarify what do you mean saying scheduled task ? Do you mean a Scheduled Issue (the one with triggers) or do you mean a regular out-of-the-box JIRA issue created when a Scheduled Issue is fired?

The JIRA, by default, doesn't propagate an e-mail notification when you're creating JIRA issue for yourself. It's senseless since you're the reporter.

Having an e-mail notification when you're creating a Scheduled Issue is a good proposal. I'll report that in our internal system. Could you please just specify who should receive such notification (Creator, Reporter, Assignee...)?

Going back to the original problem - Sprint. If you can specify a sprint during creation of out-of-the-box JIRA issue you should also have the same possibility when creating a Scheduled Issue on the second wizard step. The second wizard step displays issue type based screen that is also configurable via administrative section. Are you not seeing it?

    Kind regards,

    Marek Cendrowicz

    Hi Marek,

Thank you for the very quick response.

My request though has nothing to do with receiving an e-mail notification when a Scheduled Issue is created. This is not something we have any particular need of.

And, yes, I am of course aware that when you create a JIRA issue and assign it to yourself you do not receive an e-mail notification from JIRA. Although I personally would not find it senseless if an e-mail were sent but that is another story.

My request/point is this - at the moment the Scheduler plugin triggers new tasks according to the specified interval which then land on the backlog of the relevant JIRA Agile Board. The problem with this is that the task can be easily overseen. If the task is overseen then this defeats the intended purpose of acting as a reminder to the assignee to carry out the specified task - we don't want to have to rely on someone manually dragging the task onto the active sprint.

So, we would need some way for the newly-generated tasks to automatically be allocated to the currently active sprint of the relevant Jira Agile Board. Without this, we don't really have any benefit from your plugin.

    Thanks/Regards

    Rachel
