Customize Drop Down Selection in "User Default Settings"

Issue #828 open
Brian Moran created an issue

Currently in the Content Store instance, you can allow users to default to certain selections with a custom menu top right (Shown in photo below). The only settings seemingly is what alias is shown in the Apliqo front end, but no way to customize what elements are shown in the drop down.

Is there / can there be a feature to make it a subset through MDX or some other way? We do not want to show users the entirety of a dimension when only some elements are needed.

    Hi Brian,

The subnm control here is pulling information from the displayed instance. The element security applied to the dimension therefore applies to the user and they will be able to select as the default member from the set of elements which they have access to.

If a generic mechanism was provided to restrict the list of members then there's also a risk that depending on the user's security access, that the list could be empty. Which would result in a blank selection and reports not working.

The default settings serve only to initialize the setting service on login. A valid alternative is always to omit dimensions from the default settings (or not use it) and have a landing page where filter values are set. (Which would then be set in the setting service and carried as context when navigating to the next pages.) The logic for setting those filter values in the first landing page could then be as custom and complex as you want it to be.

Otherwise the alternative is to apply element security to restrict the selection.

Is there anyway that this can controlled by a subnm in the future as a feature? Being able to control the drown and customize it would be very helpful.
