Excel export - parameter to not export hidden rows/columns

Issue #836 on hold
Wei Wang created an issue

First of all, thank you for fixing this issue (https://bitbucket.org/apliqoc3ux/apq-c3-ux/issues/706/excel-export-hidden-rows-show-up) in the latest v2024.02 FP1 release! Perhaps the underlying enhancement that we were trying to insinuate is the ability to have a new “export hidden rows/columns” parameter where we can define if we want the export to contain any hidden rows/columns.

As the “default” behavior, I can’t imagine many situations where a user is aware of hidden rows/columns in Apliqo and would need these hidden ones exported to Excel. In fact, many uses for hidden columns are for immediate steps to aid in Apliqo formatting or displaying applicable rows. When exporting a template for Excel upload, having hidden columns also introduces issues with the file is subsequently uploaded as any adhoc columns do not correspond with TM1 element names.

This new parameter would better align most users with their expectation on the exports, as it would more closely correspond with what they see in Apliqo. Thanks!

Dear Wei, Thank you for your input. We will have it in consideration and mark it as On Hold for our easier future reference.

Spoke to Tomer on this and he mentioned the complexities of dealing with Apliqo formulas if hidden rows/columns are not exported. We talked about simplifying this request to ignore dealing w/ Apliqo formulas. Namely:

    • have new Adv Option called “Do not export hidden rows/columns” which is disabled by default
    • new Adv Option can have a tooltip warning that it does not support export of formulas
    • if this Adv Option is enabled, hidden rows/columns would not be exported and if Apliqo formulas exist, those exported would just have wrong cell references
