cloud support for tree-view

Issue #17 wontfix
Mike Doolittle created an issue

Hi Andreas, Do you have plans to support Cloud?

We need your app badly. Our users are getting hammered with Confluence notifications and we are looking for ways to limit notifications and this is a strong candidate. We'd like to remove Space watchers and enable people watch a page and it's children (and future children).

This allows us to continue merging spaces in to a lower number so that people can logical find data. However, fewer spaces means that there are more pages within each space, so watching an entire space becomes noisy.

If you plan to support Cloud, or are open to a further conversation, you'll make me very happy.

-Mike

    Dear Michael,

    thank you for your request.

In the past it was not possible to port Tree View to Cloud due to missing REST endpoints. Now it would be possible but I currently don't have resources to port it. In short: currently I don't have a concrete plan.

One additional question: I would not be able to add the "Watch tree" and "Unwatch tree" functions to the Watch menu (the eye symbol) but have to provide an additional menu symbol next to the Watch menu. Would your users understand this?

    Kind regards

    Andreas

    Thanks Andreas.

Yes, I understand that this would have to a secondary menu. That'd be fine for our users because I'd have to offer some assistance anyway.

I've spoken with a trusted developer who mapped out much of this work. However, I don't have time to take on managing the development/qa myself and I have concerns about overall support-ability. With your company, you'd have a vested interest in making sure it would continue into the future.

If you'd be interested in talking to this developer, I could see if he's interested.

disclosure: I have no vested interest in his business but this arrangement might (a) provide me a working product and (b) provide you an additional revenue stream.

    Regards, Mike

We finally decided not to port Tree View to cloud. The reliability requirements for such a plug-in do not correspond to the expected revenue.
