It is not possible to reference a figure from another document, see
:num:`figure #example-fig` on page :page:`example-fig`
for the figure labeled :ref:`example-fig`.

The standard ``:ref:`figure <example-fig>``` role is working fine, see
:ref:`here <example-fig>`.

    Yes, I have the same problem. Thank you for pointing out the workaround.

    I now use the standard role with the text "this figure" (then showing up as a link) to avoid having to keep track manually of the figure numbers (which may change) in the labels.

    Is it possible to somehow be notified if referencing figures in other documents should become possible with numfig at some point in time? Perhaps you could post a comment here? Thanks!
