Cache for icons?

I use the pane option to display SelectionSK. As an icon source I use BestIcon. I now notice, that the icons for those search bookmarks, where the icons are not included in SelectionSK, are displayed with a noticeable time lag of some seconds. Is there a way to cache those icons, so that they are displayed immediately?

SelectionSK 5.7

FF suppose to cache them for 24h or so. Will take a look if something changed, maybe new permissions required.

Anyway, try DDG as icon source.

I made a test, indeed with BestIcons it takes ~1sec to get it, however next time was instantaneous, means FF cache is working. Presumably some other extension or FF config block the caching on your side.

Also you can switch to DDG which is faster.

I see. I don’t know, how Swift Search Selection (that is the add-on I am used to), does it, but there is no wait for the favicon. Does it cache it in it’s own store? That makes much sense to me: Use the favicon from its own cache and check either during Firefox’s start for new icons or check in a regular interval (24h should be frequently enough, because these icons very, very rarely change). Just an idea …
