Atlasboard new doesn't create anything

I have followed the steps on the atlasboard website and wiki pages but cannot get atlasboard to create a new board, when trying "atlasboard new myboard" there is no output in the console. I am running on http://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=193 which is a flavor of linux 3.16 I installed node with apt-get and had to symlink nodejs to node for some of the calls to "node-gyp build" to work, but no other changes were made.

I noticed I had to do sudo atlasboard new myboard on my system, might be worth a shot.

A combination of fresh distro installation, correct versions of npm modules, running commands in sudo and symlinking resolved this for us.
