Currently Spring Boot version 1.5.12.RELEASE and Spring MVC version 4.3.25.RELEASE.

Especially Spring Boot 1.5 is end-of-life for 18 months now.
The examples in this module lacking modern Spring Boot support - although not much is different

New projects will not initialized with Spring Boot 1.5 or Spring MVC 4.3.

That does not mean that support for these versions will end.

Perhaps this helps to find a solution for #310.
