You cannot have HipChat notifications for personal spaces

I use a personal confluence space to write notes and blogs on stuff I'm working on and ideally would like being able to have HipChat notify my departments channel when I publish something. Of course I could write in a non-personal space, even to the main company space, but I like having my own stuff separate.
