/anim returning more than just GIFs
Sometime in the past day or two, we noticed that /anim was returning any image type, not just GIFs. This is slowly ruining the morale of our team. Please help.

I was bugged multiple times about this today

Account Deactivated Sorry for the delay everyone. I will try to follow up on this soon.
-
Account Deactivated I should add that
/gif
also searches for animated gifs, using Giphy instead of Google. I had both /anim and /gif in Sassy for a reason of course (lots of people preferred the /anim results), so I can understand if that's not a good solution for you. If you weren't aware of it though, you might give it a try until /anim gets updated. -
Thanks for looking into this!

reporter We've been using /gif has a stop-gap at the moment, but we definitely prefer the wider net/harrowing randomness of /anim.

Day 8: Nothing makes us happy anymore. I tried to eat lunch at my desk, but I couldn't taste it. It hasn't stopped raining for days. Starting to wonder if /anim ever existed. Did /anim leave a part of itself with us? I like to think so.
We are all /anim.

reporter I wish I could upvote a comment.

I cannot stress this strongly enough. Please clear your calendars to work on this problem. giphy just isn't the same. Googling gifs wastes precious company time. I burned my finger on coffee this morning and didn't even feel anything.

Yes we are extremely depressed over here at Badoo. Can you please fix anim for us? Productivity has plummeted now and people are going mental.

Account Deactivated Deployed the PR that forces /anim to return only gifs, in the hopes that it will yield more animated results. This isn't a great long term solution, but should make things less bad. Will investigate a longer term solution when time allows.

reporter Thank you (and Ross)! I've already been spamming chatrooms in a wild giddy /anim spree.
-
On this day, my frustration has not been properly animated.
-
There is a package available on npm that will check if a gif is animated or not. I'm not sure if it will work in this case, and it probably wouldn't be the nicest solution, but it may be more less bad.

This is because google changed their image search API. This outlines the issue extensively. https://github.com/hubot-scripts/hubot-google-images/issues/10
