Cannot log into Jira cloud

I tried to login in from the welcome screens after installing the extension, but the login + auth from the browser redirected to 127.0.0.1 and a “not found” page - it never got back to VS Code. I restarted the editor and tried to log in from settings, but the LOGIN button has a “do not enter” cursor and cannot be activated.
