Authentication on remote VSCode fails

I have setup the Jira VSCode plugin on my local machine and it works fine, authenticated and everything.

But when I open my remote VSCode workspaces on windows and linux the authentication fails claiming a DNS error when trying to access the API on our Jira instance

Manually running wget on the remote Linux with the ‘failed’ URL succeeds in downloading the autocomplete JSON file.
