This is to support streaming H.265 from GeoVision cameras.

My understanding was that H265 in FLV isn’t defined by the specifications, and therefore neither is RTMP. As a result, youtube doesn’t seem to support H265 - at least that’s what most searches I find tell me, but I could be wrong. Have I missed anything ?

Interesting. YouTube does support uploading of H.265 videos (albeit converting them to VP9), so I had assumed it would support H.265 streaming. If it is not even defined in the RTMP spec though, then we should not pursue this approach.

Youtube does not currently support receiving of H265 over RTMP as H265 in FLV is not defined.
