iotds: Efficient way to associate MTS media with sites
MTS media is typically associated with a device, which in turn is associated with a site (typically the device’s location).
It is possible, however, for VidGrind users to upgrade MTS media with an arbitrary ID (MID), i.e., one that is NOT derived from a device MAC address. In such cases, there is a need to associate the media directly with a site, since the latter are used to restrict data access.
It is proposed that the existing Media entity be extended with a site key. Media instances would be optional and not required for MtsMedia originating from a device. However, a Media instance would be required for MtsMedia that is uploaded manually.

reporter To keep it simple, let’s associate uploaded media with the site that the user has currently selected.

Even if there was a prompt before submitting so that the user is sure that is the site they want to associate the media with.

reporter Yes, the selected site should be readily apparent (not just on this page). There is a feature for a site selection widget to do just this: https://bitbucket.org/ausocean/vidgrind/issues/223/site-selection-widget

Sounds fine, and agreed!

Yeah I think this makes sense.
