Nothing happens when I try to configure the plug-in

Issue #34 resolved
Maya Chase created an issue

I just installed the plug-in on our test server, and when I go to Configure, I get nothing but the spinning icon forever.

I used a "try it free" license key for test, although we bought the plug-in, so I have a regular key to use for prod.

I've tried both Chrome and Firefox.

We have Confluence 5.7

    Hi Maya,

Sorry to hear that you get stuck so early on. Could you answer the following questions, this will help us greatly with finding the problem.

    • Do you see any errors in the server logs?
    • Do you see any JavaScript errors in the browser log? (let me know if you need help locating them)
    • Are you using the latest version of both Chrome and Firefox?
    • Which version of the add-on are you using?
  2. Tomas Theunissen

The easiest way to get the browser JavaScript logs in Chrome is to right click on the page, select 'Inspect Element' in the dropdown. This wil open the Chrome developer tools. In there select 'Console' from the horizontal menu. If you could send everything that is in there, that would be great!

Both browser versions are pretty recent, so I don't expect any problems there. Let me know when you have the server and/or browser logs.

Normally Confluence only logs to 'catalina.out' when it is starting. After that it will write logs to the 'log' directory in the Confluence data directory (same directory where all the attachments are stored).

The 'the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error)' bit from the browser logs indicate that something went wrong on the server. So I will probably be able to tell more when you have the server logs.

Thats the right directory, we always call it the data directory, sorry for the confusion. It looks like some issues with Oracle that another customer also reported. Unfortunately I do not have a fix for this right now. I will talk this over with another developer Tuesday (Monday we have a day off in the Netherlands) and see if we can figure out a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience, I will get back to you Tuesday. Have a good weekend!

Could you run the following query on the Oracle database and add the output to this issue?

    SELECT index_name, column_name, column_position FROM user_ind_columns WHERE table_name='AO_353E89_SERVER' ORDER BY index_name, column_position;

This query will list all existing indexes on the 'AO_353E89_SERVER' table.

  6. Tomas Theunissen

It could be that the middle bit of the table name is different in your database. Is there any table that starts with 'AO' and ends with 'SERVER'? If so, could you ask to run the query on that table?

If there is no such table at all, could you send a list of all tables starting with 'AO'?

  7. Tomas Theunissen

It looks like something went wrong when you pasted the list of tables. I only see 'TABLE_NAME'

  8. Tomas Theunissen

That's weird, none of the tables I expect are there. Did you disable or uninstall the Git for Confluence add-on in the mean time?

  9. Tomas Theunissen

Are you sure the query was run against the correct database. Not accidentally against the production database instead of the test database?

I’m sure it was test, but let me double-check and make sure we’re looking at the right db. Everyone has probably gone home, now, but I will let you know hopefully in the morning.

That's very strange, I talked a bit about this issue with a colleague. Could you give us the following?

    • List of all tables
    • All logs after the reinstall you just did

Besides that we will create a new version of the plugin without any database upgrades (there is one, we think that causes the issue) on monday. I will send you this version when it's ready.

  12. Tomas Theunissen

We found the issue! I have attached a snapshot build to this issue. Could you try it out and check if it installs correctly now? If it does we will release a new version on Monday.
