Missing page tree

Issue #11 invalid
Former user created an issue

Hello Support-Team,

we have pages in Confluence where there isn´t any page tree (shown in the screenshot). We use the documentation theme.

We found out that the numbered headings plugin is responsible for the failure, because the failure doesn´t exist when this plugin is disabled.

We use Confluence 4.1.9 and Numbered Headings 2.0.5.

Can you please help us with this issue?

Thank you in advance,

Regards,

Julia Brugger

I see you are using the documentation theme, is that assumption correct? Can you also tell me what browser you are using?

  2. Tomas Theunissen

I am unable to reproduce the bug when using FireFox 17. Does this bug occur with any other browser (like Google Chrome or Microsoft Internet Explorer)?

  3. Julia Brugger

You´re right, in fact the failure doesn´t occur with IE 8. We never had problems when using Firefox 10 in the past, I don´t know why we have problems suddenly.

  4. Tomas Theunissen

It seems like a JavaScript error, but Numbered Headings should not include any JavaScript when viewing the page (ill check if we do this by accident). So I can't think of a reason why Numbered Headings would cause this problem.

Is it possible for you to upgrade to the latest FireFox version? If not I will try and see if I can install FireFox 10 and see if I can reproduce the problem in that version.

  5. Julia Brugger

We also tried to open the page with Firefox 17 and the problem still exists. The whole department works with Firefox 10 and it is not possible to upgrade to the latest browser at the moment.

We use the documentation theme out of the box. We only have some customizations in the global html. <style type="text/css">

Those modifications shouldn't be a problem. Do all pages with the Numbered Headings macro have this problem? Even pages which only contain the NH macro and nothing else?

  8. Julia Brugger

No, only a few pages have this problem. We found out that the failure only occurs when there are Jira-issues with the status "dynamic" within the Numbered Headings macro. We tried to reproduce the failure with Mozilla Firefox 3.6. and there is no missing page tree.

  9. Tomas Theunissen

Ah, that explains why I couldn't reproduce it. I'll see if I can with Numbered Headings and jira-issues combined.

  10. Julia Brugger

We located another problem with the codeblock macro within the Numbered Headings macro. Sometimes we miss the edging around the code and the formating has changed.

  11. Tomas Theunissen

I am having some trouble getting FireFox 10.0.1 to work. Sorry for the long wait, but we are still on it.

  12. Tomas Theunissen

I tried it on Windows with FireFox 10.0.1, but I am still unable to reproduce it...

Could you check if you get any JavaScript errors? (go to 'Tools > Web Developer > Error Console' and select the 'Errors' tab in the new window).

  13. Julia Brugger

    Hello,

we resolved this issue. It was no problem of Numbered Headings. It was the constellation Firefox browser with Jira-issues and bold, italic and colored text before. We deleted this formating and now everything works fine.

Thank you very much for your help,

    best regards, Julia

  14. Tomas Theunissen

Good to hear that you resolved it! If you have time, we would appreciate a review on the Atlassian marketplace.

If you ever come across any other Numbered Headings issue, don't hesitate to create a bug.
