MLV Raw file [102GB in size] cannot open with MLRawViewer; App goes black... HELP !!!
Hi Folks,
I just returned from a 14 day train trip with Roots On The Rails from LA>Chicago>Portland>LA using LA Rail Private Rail Cars. We had 15 musicians including Phil & Dave Alvin, Jon Langford, John Doe and Terry Allen.
I filmed each of 40 performance using my Canon 5DMK3 and a Sound Devices 744T audio recorder.
I installed Magic Lantern nightly 3-30-2014 and had great results except for a couple of issues:
1) I used ExFat of my CF so I had files that were 60-110 GB in size. Two of about 60 large MLV files would not open. When I used the MLRawViewer, the app would just go blank without any controls showing. Both files show 102GB and 10.83GB in size. I don't know why the MLRawViewer is blank-black when I try to open the MLV files. These are the only two files that ended up doing this. QUESTION: Is there anything that can be done to open or activate these files so I can view them. They are of musicians performing on stage on the train in the concert car.
Thanks for your comments in advance. Sincerely, Joe Ray Skrha

reporter HI folks, Here is a desktop photo showing the file M13-2011 size 119.17GB and when I drop it in the MLRaw Viewer, this is all that shows up... I hope this gives you all an idea what I am troubled with. The rest of the MLV files converted to MOV ProRes without any problem except M13-2042 that does the same problem. I seem too remember that I may have exceeded my 29,57 minutes of recording time on my Canon 5DMK3 using ExFat LEXOR 256GB 1066X Thanks, Joe Ray Skrha

repo owner Hi Joe Ray,
I see you have a mac. Can you please follow these instructions:
- Go to Applications/Utilities and click the "Terminal" icon.
- In the window that appears type this command exactly:
/Applications/MlRawViewer.app/Contents/MacOS/mlrawviewer
Then press the return/enter key. 3. A file selection window should appear. Choose one of the bad files 4. After it shows the black screen, close the app 5. Go to finder and search for the file "mlrawviewer.log" 6. Attach that file here
If you can do that, we might be able to get some more information about the cause of the problem.
Thanks, Andrew Baldwin

repo owner I couldn't see the log contents here. Maybe you will need to open the mlrawviewer.log file and copy, and then paste the text it contains to here.

reporter Andrew, I sent you the log under separate message/ email. Let me know if you don't get it. Thanks, Joe Ray
