Suslik: from my observation, this starts happening after doing warm static item shenanigans. i usually put a bunch of junk (mostly ammo) on the ground and start dumping small amounts (1-3) of warm static on it instead of cloning vendors. i noticed that after doing this for a while, adjacent areas start generating with errors every now and then. i mean this is in addition to all items affected by warm static shown twice in the inventory, i'm sure it's all normal and good. however, I never had a run straight up ruined by corrupted items like this one before.

Suslik: somehow even a new character got a zone corruption in red rock? wtf? i just came to the red rock and found some random tile that blocks my way and says that there's a "manipulator of brackish water" in the way, even though the tile looks just like empty space (see the message log on the screenshot). upon reloading there's a bunch of zone loading errors (player.log and the save attached):

This is a fresh CoQ installation on a fresh machine and I don’t have any mods that I intentionally installed here. Besides, Player.log says:INFO - Enabled mods: None

I have double checked, there’s definitely no mods or mod remnants installed on my system. The saves attached above are both taken on the current stable version with no mods installed. I have also verified my steam installation integrity and checked the S.M.A.R.T of my ssd to make sure it’s not dying (the smart is all at 100%, the machine is pretty new).

crumpled sheet of paper suggested that the red rock corruption on a new character could have potentially happened because I started a new character right after getting one character really badly corrupted (the first attached save) without restarting the game. The badly corrupted character (bodyswapped warden Uno) was most likely corrupted by extensive application of warm static to piles of items. Doing that process for a while seems to pretty reliably corrupt the game for me, but it’s possible that this type of corruption could carry over even to a new character, since I created them without restarting the coq.exe.
